Behind The Logo

In 2019, Trey and a friend were on their way in from a cold, rainy December duck hunt. While driving down the road, they happened to spot an abandoned calf in a neighboring field close to the ranch. Surrounded by vultures and just minutes away from inevitable death, Trey hopped the fence and grabbed this little heifer in hopes to help our neighbor not lose a calf. When Trey notified our neighbor of the situation, they said, if you can keep her alive, you can have her.

Orphan calves are cute and it may seem fun to raise one on a bottle, but it can add more work to the day really quick. However, as ranchers, we feel that we owe these animals the best care we can give them and orphan calves are no exception.

Long story short, she survived and we named her Suzie! She quickly showed she was not a normal calf, she was special, and we knew it. As you can see, she is not so little anymore. But she has a piece of our heart that we will forever be grateful for. In many ways, she is as endearing as a family pet. Trey always says “she’s just a 1,500 pound dog”. We love Suzie and as long as she’s breathing you can find her here on the farm, munching away on fescue and bahia grass.
